
Police Headquarters (PHQ) today said 1521 people were arrested afresh today in a nationwide anti-crime security campaign while the joint forces Operation Devil Hunt is underway.
The PHQ in a message said of the arrested 1521 people, 1178 were wanted in different criminal cases and 343 were arrested under the Devil Hunt operation across the country.
According to the PHQ the joint forces earlier in the past two days, on Saturday and Sunday, arrested 1308 miscreants from across the country.

The Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection will deploy 80 teams to monitor markets across the country to prevent illegal hoarding and ensure the availability of essential goods at fair prices during Ramadan.
The decision was taken at a meeting in Dhaka on Monday.
Ten teams will monitor the markets in the capital, two teams in each divisional city, and one team in other key districts of the country.
Representatives from various entities including brands like Aarong, Deshidosh, Ilinion, Apex, Yellow, Sajgoj, Infinity, SuperShop Swapno, MinaBazar, Agora, UniMart, Daily Shopping, as well as wholesale and retail traders, participated in the meeting, according to a government release.

A command centre, established to monitor intensively the country law and order situation, has started its works from this evening, Chief Adviser Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said today.
"The Operation Devil Hunt began yesterday...to coordinate the works of law enforcing agencies, the command centre is going to start its works from 6 pm today" he told a press briefing.
The press briefing was held at Foreign Service Academy here.
Alam said the members of the law enforcing agencies and representatives of armed forces will work at the command centre.
"We hope that following the establishment of the centre, the law and order situation will improve and quick response can be carried out to any threat," he said.

Senior Secretary of the Home Ministry Nasimul Ghani today said the joint forces "Operation Devil Hunt" is aimed at arresting those trying to make the country unstable.
"Our target is to neutralise the pockets from where attempts are being made to destabilise the country.... The operation will continue as long as necessary," he said while replying to a question in a press briefing over the "Operation Devil Hunt" at the conference room of the Home Ministry at the Secretariat here.
He said they have briefed all the forces so that they can carry out the operation in a focused way by maintaining the law and order and protecting the human rights.
Replying to a question, he said police will lead the Operation Devil Hunt.
"It is a police action," he said, adding that the military which was given magistracy power after August 5 changeover, will act to help maintaining the law and order.
The Home Adviser stressed the need for protecting the human rights during the operation.
