CID finds technological negligence behind Bangladesh Bank forex heist

Criminal Investigation Department (CID), a specialized police unit, has found technological negligence for the incident of cyber heist of $101 million from Bangladesh Bank account in 2016 during their investigation into the case.
"Investigation of the case is at the final stage. During investigation, what we found was technological negligence as the BB was not technologically sound when the incident took place, that is the reality," said CID Chief Additional IGP Mohammad Ali Mia, while exchanging views with the newly elected Executive Committee (EC) of Bangladesh Crime Reporters Association (CRAB) at the CID headquarters in the city on Monday.

1st phase of Bishwa Ijtema to begin on Feb 2

GAZIPUR: The first phase of Bishwa Ijtema will begin on the bank of the Turag River at Tongi, on the outskirts of the city, on February 2.
Confirming the matter to BSS, Ijtema Chief Coordinator Md Mahfuzur Rahman said the followers of Maulana Zubairul Hasan Kandhlawi will join the first phase of Bishwa Ijtema to be held from February 2 to 4.
With the participation of the supporters of Maulana Saad Kandhalvi, the second phase of the Ijtema will be held at the same venue from February 9 to February 11.

Samanta Lal for boosting confidence on healthcare services

Health and Family Welfare Minister Professor Dr Samanta Lal Sen today stressed the need for boosting confidence on healthcare services in the country.
“We are focusing on restoring confidence of the people through improvement of healthcare services at all levels of medical facilities in the country,” he told a media briefing at his ministry, an official release said.
Secretary of Medical Education and Family Welfare Division Azizur Rahman, Director General of the Directorate General of the Health Services (DGHS) ABM Khurshid Alam, Director General of Directorate of Drug Administration Major General Mohammad Yusuf and Additional Secretary of Health Service Division Md Saidur Rahman, among others, were present at the media briefing.

PM stresses global efforts for Rohingya repatriation

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today called upon the international community to take measures to repatriate Rohingyas to their homeland Myanmar and ensure their dignified life there.
"The world should think that how the Rohingya crisis can be resolved so that they could return to their homeland and have a decent life there," she said.
The premier said this while a British cross party parliamentary delegation led by Vice Chair of All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Bangladesh and Chair of APPG on Indo-British, Virendra Sharma, MP, paid a courtesy call on her at her official Ganabhaban residence here.
