Bangladesh to follow US hourly wage: Momen

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen on Thursday said Bangladesh will follow the American minimum hourly wage as stability instead of conflict to keep the wheel of development going.
He said, Awami League always maintain the peace and stability for developing the democracy.

Election will be competitive, free and fair: CEC

RAJSHAHI: The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal today categorically said the forthcoming 12th parliament elections will be competitive, free and fair and there is no doubt about it.
"We are putting our level best efforts to make the election proper, peaceful and successful to attain the trust and confidence of the voters in general," he added.
The CEC came up with the observation while sharing views with the candidates of all six constituencies of the district at local Circuit House here as chief guest.
CEC Kazi Habibul Awal expected that the election will be proper as the voters will come to the centres to exercise their rights after five years spontaneously.

Thousands of people join ALs Bijoy rally in city

City streets were flooded with Awami League (AL) leaders and supporters today as the ruling party brought out its Bijoy rally (victory procession) in the capital marking the Victory Day 2023.
All roads led to Suhrawardy Udyan before starting the Bijoy rally towards Bangabandhu Bhaban at Dhanmondi-32 as AL leaders and supporters thronged the Udyan premises, wherein the Pakistani occupation forces surrendered on December 16 in 1971, with processions from different areas of the city to join the victory procession.

OIC states should work together for peace in Gaza: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today called for united efforts of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) states to establish peace in Gaza of Palestine.
"The OIC member countries will have to work in unison to establish peace in Gaza," she said when Qatar Ambassador to Bangladesh Seraya Ali Mahdi Saeed Al-Qahtani paid a courtesy call on her at her official residence Ganabhaban here.
PM Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed the newsmen after the meeting.
