
The Ministry of Home Affairs has banned the activities of the followers of Maulana Saad Kandlavi at the Kakrail Mosque in Dhaka.
Besides, the government imposed restrictions on large gatherings of the supporters of another faction of Tabligh Jamaat Maulana Zubair near the mosque.
The order will be effective from Friday until further notice, the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs said in a notice on Thursday.
Earlier on Dec 18, four people were killed and 40 others injured in a clash between two factions of Tabligh Jamaat at the Biswa Ijtema ground in Tongi over control of the venue.
A case was filed in connection with the violent clashes.

In a move aimed at enhancing customer service, the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has announced that its offices will remain open on Saturdays, the weekly holiday in the country.
Muhammad Masum Billah, Deputy Director (Administration) of BRTA, issued an official order on Thursday outlining the decision.
According to the directive, BRTA Metro Circle and District Circle offices will operate on Saturdays until further notice. This measure is intended to ensure uninterrupted service delivery to the public, the order says.

Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan on Thursday said the high-profile probe committee formed by the government to investigate the Secretariat fire incident would submit its primary report within the next three days.
"We want a thorough and extensive investigation. The government is giving the highest importance to the matter," she said while briefing reporters at Foreign Service Academy in the evening.
She said an emergency meeting was held with Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus in the chair where the decision was taken.

The Home Ministry today asked the foreign nationals staying and working illegally in Bangladesh to obtain legal documents by January 31, 2025.
The Home Ministry today issued a warning notice in this regard signed by Md. Khuda Baksh Chowdhury, Special Assistant to Chief Adviser (Equivalent to State Minister).
"It is hereby brought to the notice of all concerned that many foreign nationals are illegally staying/ working in Bangladesh. In this case, foreign nationals illegally staying/ working in Bangladesh are requested to acquire the necessary documents to stay or work in Bangladesh by 31 January 2025," the notice stated.
