
US President-elect Donald Trump said Thursday the ceasefire and hostage release agreement between Israel and Hamas would have never been reached without pressure from him and his incoming administration.

High Representative to the Chief Adviser on Rohingya crisis and priority issues Dr Khalilur Rahman has advised the Rohingyas to refrain from all forms of illegal and violent activities and direct their efforts positively toward successful resolution of their issue.
He met a cross-section of forcibly displaced Rohingyas at their camps in Ukhiya and urged them to articulate their common voice in preparation for the International Conference on the Rohingyas.
UN Resident Coordinator in Dhaka Gwyn Lewis told the meeting that the top leadership of the UN system has full support for the Chief Adviser and the High Representative in their work in regard to the Rohingyas and the upcoming International Conference, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday.

A five-year-old child was killed and 100 houses were burnt in a fire which broke out at a Rohingya camp in Teknaf upazila of Coxs Bazar district early Friday.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
The fire broke out at the Nayapara Mouchani camp G Block around 12 am and spread soon, said Mohammad Kawsar Shikdar, commanding officer and additional deputy inspector general of Armed Police Battalion-16.
On information, two firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the flame after one hour of hectic effort around 1 am.
Later, police recovered the charred body of the child.
Around 100 houses were burnt into ashes during the fire, he said.
However, what caused the fire could not be known immediately.

US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti has said both India and the US want to see democracy and elections in Bangladesh as soon as possible which will ultimately help Bangladesh open its next chapter.
"Both of us want to see democracy and democratic elections established in Bangladesh as soon as possible, and that can help Bangladesh open its next chapter," he told WION in an exclusive.
The Ambassador said it is not about the past, it is about what they can do together. And India and the United States have never acted together around the world more closely than today, the US envoy said.
The US envoy in India made Bangladesh election-related comments for the first time.
"I think we both share the principles that we want to see a peaceful, democratic South Asia and we share those principles," Ambassador Garcetti said.
