Long-term business, industrial policy needed for stability: FBCCI

Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) president Mahbubul Alam today said that long-term business and industrial policy are needed for stability and growth.
Mahbubul said this while speaking at a discussion hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham Bangladesh) titled "Budget and Business Outlook" as the chief guest held at a city hotel.
The discussion brought together key figures to analyze the implications of the recent national budget for the Bangladeshi business community.

PM Hasina meets Gandhi family, other Congress leaders in New Delhi

A day after attending Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi swearing in ceremony, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday met with senior congress leader Sonia Gandhi along with Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, and Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
Taking to X the Congress posted photographs stating: "CPP Chairperson Smt Sonia Gandhi ji, former Congress President Shri Rahul Gandhi, and General Secretary Smt Priyanka Gandhi Vadra ji called on the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina Wazed ji this afternoon in New Delhi."
The ties between Sheikh Hasina and the Gandhi family have deep roots, tracing back to their predecessors.
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding leader of Bangladesh and father of Sheikh Hasina, shared a warm relationship with Indira Gandhi, the prime minister of India during the early 1970s.

DSCC adds 10 new pay-loaders

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has bolstered its waste management fleet with the inclusion of ten new pay-loaders. This addition is expected to significantly enhance the operational capacity of the corporation.
Rangs Motors Limited CEO Ahmed Shahriar Anwar handed over the keys to DSCC Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh at the DSCC main office premises on Monday.
In preparation for Eid-ul-Azha, DSCC invested Tk 8.29 crore from its own funds to buy the 10 pay-loaders, aiming to streamline its waste management operations during the festival.
Following the key handover, Mayor Taposh inspected the new equipment. The new pay-loaders will not only modernize the waste management process but also expedite waste removal operations, he said.

134 Myanmar troops sent back

A total of 134 members of the Border Guard Police (BGP) and army personnel of Myanmar who crossed the border and took shelter in Bangladesh to escape the fighting between the Myanmar junta and the Arakan Army, were sent back to their homeland today.
In exchange, 45 Bangladeshis imprisoned in Myanmar have returned home from the neighbouring country.
Around 12:30pm, Bangladeshi ship Karnaphuli Tug-1 carrying the 134 Mynmar nationals left the BIWTA jetty in Nunyarchhara in Coxs Bazar town, sources at the official of Coxs Bazar district administration.
