The government is preparing a list of all the top loan defaulters in the individual and organisational categories, Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali on Monday told parliament. The minister said this while replying to a query of reserved seat Awami League MP Farida Yasmin. Farida wanted to know the names of the top 30 loan defaulters in both individual and organisational categories and how much money they have taken from banks and financial institutions. National Board of Revenue (NBR) Customs, Excise and VAT Appellate Tribunal President Matiur Rahman, also a member of the board, has been removed from his post. He has been attached to the Internal Resources Division (IRD) of the Finance Ministry, according to a ministry notification issued today (23 June). It said the decision will be effective immediately.
