First phase of Biswa Ijtema begins Jan 31

The first phase of Biswa Ijtema will be held from 31 January to February 2, while the second phase of the congregation will take place from February 7 to 9, 2025 on the bank of Turag River at Tongi in Gazipur district.
Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury revealed this after a meeting with two factions of the Tabligh Jamaat at the Ministry of Home Affairs today.
Besides, the adviser said maintaining the law and order, and overall security issue over the upcoming Biswa Ijtema, were also discussed during the meeting.
"We do not want any division between the Islamic scholars (alem-ulema) . . . If it is necessary, we will discuss the matter with them again," he added.

10 city streets to be declared horn-free in January: Rizwana

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan today said 10 streets in Dhaka city will be declared horn-free in January next.
She made the remark while speaking at the Grand Finale of the "Shahid Selim BUFT National Debate Competition - 2024" held at BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology in Uttara here.
Addressing as the chief guest, Rizwana said necessary amendments to the law will be brought to promote a horn-free country.

Touhid for globally coordinated approach to combating terrorism

Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossin today called upon nations with advanced technology to share expertise for fostering a globally coordinated approach to combating terrorism.
"In today interconnected world, no society is truly safe until every society is safe," he said while addressing the Ministerial Session of the High-Level Conference on "Strengthening International Counter-Terrorism Cooperation and Building Agile Border Security Mechanisms" in Kuwait City.
Currently, the foreign adviser is leading the Bangladesh delegation to the high-level conference. The two-day conference began today, said a foreign ministry press release here.

Services for income tax return is available during November

Month-long services will be provided to tax payers in all tax zones in this November to facilitate income tax return submission.
National Board of Revenue (NBR), instead of organizing income tax fair, has taken the decision of extending return submission related services for the tax payers, said a NBR press release here today.
It said a comprehensive programme of income tax information and services has been undertaken throughout the month of November with the aim of developing tax culture, increasing tax awareness and gaining the trust and confidence of the tax payers.
