Cyclonic storm Fengal moves west-northwestwards over Bay

Cyclonic storm "Fengal" over Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining area moved west-northwestwards and now lies over the same area.
As of 3:00 pm on Saturday, “Fengal” was centered positioned approximately about 1,685 km southwest of Chattogram port, 1,645 km southwest of Coxs Bazar port, 1,530 km southwest of Mongla port and 1,545 km southwest of Payra port, according to a special bulletin from the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
“It is likely to move westerly direction further and cross North Tamil Nadu Coast around evening/night of Saturday (30 November, 2024),” it said.

Dr Kamal now Gono Forum president emeritus, Montu president

The new central committee of Gono Forum has been announced with Dr Kamal Hossain as its emeritus president, while Mostafa Mohsin Montu as president and Dr Mizanur Rahman as general secretary.
The announcement came from the 7th national council of Gono Forum held at the Institution of Engineers in the city. Gono Forum founder Dr Kamal Hossain opened the council in the morning.
Advocate Sagir Anwar presided over the election session, while Advocate Subrata Chowdhury announced the names against different posts of the party new 151-member central committee, keeping some posts vacant.

India needs to address concerns to improve relation: Touhid

Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain today said India needs to address Bangladesh longstanding concerns to improve bilateral ties between Dhaka and New Delhi.
"Bangladesh previous (ousted) government addressed the concerns of India, but India did not address Bangladesh concerns," he said while speaking at a roundtable titled “Bangladesh-India Relations: Expectations, Barriers and Future.”
The South Asian Institute of Policy and Governance (SIPG) and the Department of Political Science and Sociology (PSS) of North South University (NSU) hosted the event at its campus in the capital.
Touhid said there has been no progress on crucial issues between Bangladesh and India such as the Teesta water-sharing agreement or the troubling problem of border killings.

Dhaka condemns desecration of national flag, effigy burning of Prof Yunus in Kolkata

Bangladesh government today strongly condemned the deplorable acts of desecrating the national flag of Bangladesh and the burning of the effigy of Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus in Kolkata, India.
“The Government of Bangladesh calls upon the Government of India to take necessary measures in order to prevent occurrences of such incidents in the future,” said foreign ministry here in a statement.
"The Government of Bangladesh notes with deep concern the violent protest organized outside the Deputy High Commission of Bangladesh in Kolkata last (Thursday) afternoon by a Hindu organization of Kolkata named Bongio Hindu Jagran," said the statement.
The rally and demonstration organized by a large group of protesters turned violent, with the protesters breaking through police barricades and reaching the boundary of Bangladesh Deputy High Commission.
