The government has given permission for
importing four crore eggs to four companies in order to keep the price of
such item under control.
Talking to media today, Commerce Ministry Senior Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh
said each of the four companies have been initially given permission for
importing one crore pieces of eggs thus totaling the number to four crore
eggs. These four companies are Meem Enterprise, Prime Energy Importers and
Suppliers, Tiger Trading and Arnob Trading Limited.
He said these four companies have been asked to import eggs as soon as
possible. "Since they will have to import eggs through opening up LCs, it may
take some time for them," he added.
KISHOREGANJ: Election Commissioner (EC) Md Anisur Rahman today said the 12th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) elections will be held in the first week of January, 2024 and the schedule will be announced in November next.
"We want a participatory election. The nation expectation is also the same," he said while talking to journalists at circuit house here.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad, Police Super Mohammad Russell Sheikh and District Election Officer Mohammad Ashraful Alam were present.
Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin today said by implementing the HCFC Phase Out Management Plan (Stage-2), Bangladesh is expected to reduce the consumption of hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) by 67.5 percent by 2025.
"The government is working towards the phase out of HCFCs used in air conditioners, fire fighting and thermal foam sectors under the Montreal Protocol adopted to protect ozone layer," he told a function here.
Bangladesh Railway (BR) today successfully completed a test run of its freight train between Bhanga and Mawa station via the Padma Bridge.
The goods train left Faridpur Bhanga station at 7:40am and ended its journey at Mawa end, said Project Director of Faridpur Rail Project Brigadier General Syed Ahmed.
Later, the train again backed to Bhanga station, he added.
