
The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division is taking strides to create a reliable and inclusive payment ecosystem through the payment aggregator EkPay.
This initiative is designed to allow people to pay utility bills, education fees, and government institution fees through any payment channel of their choice.
The EkPay platform, currently operated by the ICT Division under the supervision of Bangladesh Bank, aims to ensure the use of IT in financial services and to bring the grassroots people under the financial services network, said a press release on Friday.

A Russian worker was found dead in a washroom of the residential Green City of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project in Pabna, police said on Friday.
The deceased Ivan Kaitmazov (40) was employed at the power plant as an electric circuit installer with the project Skem Company, said Inspector (Investigation) Monirul Islam of Ishwardi Police Station.
His body was discovered five days after his death in the washroom of Flat No. 95, located on the 9th floor of Building 14, on Thursday (January 9) around 7 PM, police said.

Dismissed Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) members and their families left the Central Shaheed Minar premises on Thursday after a two-day sit-in demanding the release of all BDR detainees involved in the Pilkhana massacre.

Apparently referring to deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reported visa extension, the interim government on Thursday said visa issue does not exist once passport is cancelled.
“I would give you general answer – if passport is cancelled, no visa issue remains there,” Spokesperson at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Rafiqul Alam told reporters while responding to a question at a weekly briefing at the ministry.
He also said the passport cancellation issues are notified through Bangladesh Missions abroad so that the countries which have diplomatic relations with Bangladesh know about the cancellation.
“As we do not have additional information, we would not speculate,” Alam added.
