The Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP) today received the nuclear fuel to produce electricity at a function at its site as Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Russian President Vladimir Putin virtually joined it.
With the handing over of the radioactive fuel to Bangladesh authorities, the country became the 33rd nuclear fuel user in the world, while third in South Asia.
The certificate of fuel delivery was handed over to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin at Prime Minister official residence Ganobhaban as the premier joined the event virtually.

"We are preparing area-based terrorist list - - - criminals, who are in jail and living abroad, also will be enlisted," Director of Media Wing Commander Khandaker Al Moin, director of media wing of RAB, told a press conference at media centre of RAB at Karawn Bazar in the city.
Moin said RAB has intensified its efforts to maintain law and order situation as the parliamentary election will be held at the beginning of the next year.
The government today approved separate proposals for procuring some 1.10 lakh metric tons of fertilizer, 30,000 metric tons of phosphoric acid and 1.30 crore liters of soybean oil to meet the growing demand of the country.

The Information Commission Bangladesh (ICB) today fined a DGM of Polli Biddut Samity for delay in providing information and obstructing the implementation of RTI Act.
The commission also ordered departmental action against a Union Parishad secretary for not providing information to an applicant under the RTI Act.
