Brazil considers Bangladesh inclusion in BRICS positively: Vieira

Visiting Brazilian foreign minister Mauro Vieira today said that Brasilia considered Bangladesh keen interest to become BRICS member "very strongly and positively" as Dhaka shared same principles and positions with the BRICS member states.
"Bangladesh is the country very close to watch, we shared principles, shared positions ... we will consider it (Inclusion in BRICS) from our side, very strongly and positively," he said.
Vieira was speaking at a joint media briefing with his Bangladesh counterpart after a bilateral talk with foreign minister Dr Hasan Mahmud at state guest house Jamuna in the capital.

Joint pincer movement launched against KNF

Bangladeshi security forces and law enforcement agencies will launch a pincer movement against the armed hill group Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) in Bandarban following a string of robberies, kidnapping and attacks on security checkposts in the district. The army, police, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) will launch the operation on Friday, RAB officials said in a press briefing at around 11:00am in the District Council auditorium.
The operation will continue till the KNF are eliminated in the district, Khandker Al Moin, director of the Legal and Media Wing of RAB, said at the briefing.
Meanwhile, five cases have been filed in Bandarban over the string of robberies, looting weapons and kidnapping of the manager of a Sonali Bank branch in Bandarban.

Only legal cable-DTH operators can transmit: Arafat

State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat today said only legal cable and Direct To Home (DTH) operators will be able to transmit feeds of government-approved domestic and foreign television channels to subscribers.
"It is unlawful and illegal if anyone else does this outside of them. The government will take legal action to stop this illegal activity," he said.
Arafat said: "Due to this illegal activity, the government loses revenue and money is laundered abroad in various ways. At the same time, the security of the country is disturbed."
He made the comments following a meeting with Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministry on "Taking legal measures to stop the illegal broadcasting of local and foreign television channels" in the conference room of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry at the Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon.

Tiktok removes 7 million videos from Bangladesh

Tiktok has taken action against 7,599,349 videos from Bangladesh for breaching its Community Guidelines in the fourth quarter, underscoring its resolve to combat violations effectively.
Unveiling its latest Community Guidelines Enforcement Report for the fourth quarter of 2023 today (1 April), TikTok highlighted its commitment to transparency, safety, and inclusivity, reflecting its dedication to building trust and ensuring a safe platform for its global community, said a press release.
During the October-December period of 2023, TikTok proactive measures led to the removal of 176,461,963 videos worldwide, representing about 1.0% of all videos uploaded on the platform.
A substantial portion of these, 128,300,584 videos, were identified and removed through automated detection technologies, while 8,038,106 videos were reinstated upon further review.
