Production of locally made smartphone is on rise as the manufactures hoping growth of this sector following country new journey during post mass uprising period. Both the local and global brands have increased their production by more than six percent in September compared to previous month, showed the statistics of telecom regulator. The state-run Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has taken necessary preparations ahead of the Holy Month of Ramadan through importing commodities as well as local procurement of items. As part of its huge activities, the TCB would sell some 20,000 metric tons of lentil, two crore liters of edible oil and 10,000 metric tons of sugar every month alongside selling onion and potatoes across the country through imports under the directives of the Ministry of Commerce. Highlighting the extreme discrimination faced by fishermen and the fisheries sector in general, Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhter said on Saturday that the government is working at its highest capacity to eradicate the existing discrimination in the fisheries sector. She made these comments at a seminar titled Challenges and Forward Rights of Small-Scale Fishing Communities: The Context of Bangladesh at the CIRDAP conference hall. Those who catch fish for their livelihood are the real fishermen. In this case, businesspeople cannot be included. Referring to wage discrimination among fishermen, the adviser said the recognition of female fishermen needs strong support—they should not be differentiated from other fishermen. The United States has said they want to see freedom of religion is respected in Bangladesh, and people are held accountable for any attacks.
