Purbachal plot allocation: ACC sues Hasina, 4 others

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday filed three cases against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana and her children on charges of abusing power to obtain plots from RAJUK.
The cases were filed with the ACC Dhaka Integrated District Office-1, said ACC Director General Md. Akhter Hossain.
Sheikh Rehana, her son Redwan Mujib Siddique Bobby, and her daughter Azmina Siddique were named as the main accused in the three cases while Rehana another daughter Tulip Rizwana Siddique and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina were named as co-accused.
Apart from this, 12 to 13 people made accused in each case.

Wearing face mask for city dwellers is must: DoE

The Department of Environment (DoE) has asked the city dwellers to wear face mask when they go outside as city air quality index (AQI) already has deteriorated and it has reached to very unhealthy position.
“Wearing face mask for city dwellers in outside is a must,” said a DoE press release today.
The environment authority issued this alert for the inhabitants of the capital and its adjacent areas as the AQI during this morning at 10am reached to more than 250, according to latest air quality monitoring report.

Maj Gen Ziaul, ex-DC Moshiur to be grilled over Sagar-Runi murder

All set to interrogate Maj. Gen. (sacked) Ziaul Ahsan and former deputy commissioner (DC) of the detective branch of police Lalbagh Zone Moshiur Rahman in the sensational case lodged over the murders of journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Nahar Runi.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Imran Hossain on January 8 allowed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) plea to interrogate the two former senior officials of the law enforcement agencies in the case, court sources confirmed BSS.
Investigation officer (IO) PBI additional superintendent of police (ASP) Azizul Haque filed the plea before the court, saying important information could be obtained if these two former security forces officials are interrogated in the case.

Dhaka expresses deep concern on BSF acts over border fencing

Dhaka today expressed deep concern to New Delhi over the recent activities of the Border Security Force (BSF) of attempting to construct fencing along the Bangladesh-India Border while summoning Indian high commissioner to Bangladesh.
Indian envoy Pranay Verma was seen entering the foreign ministry around 3pm as he was summoned by the Bangladesh foreign secretary Md Jashim Uddin and the meeting was lasted around 45 minutes.
“Foreign Secretary Ambassador Md. Jashim Uddin today expressed deep concern of government of Bangladesh to the High Commissioner of India Pranay Verma at his office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs over the recent activities of the Border Security Force (BSF) of India along the Bangladesh-India Border,” read a foreign ministry press release issued this evening.
During the meeting with the Indian envoy, the foreign secretary stressed that such activities particularly the unauthorized attempt to construct barbed wire fencing and the related operational actions by BSF, have caused tensions and disturbances along the border.
