Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia today expressed keen interest to take the existing excellent bilateral relations to upper level further.
The interest was expressed when President of the Shura Council of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Ibraheem Al Sheikh called on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganabhaban here.
Prime Minister Deputy Press Secretary KM Shakhwat Moon briefed the reporters after the meeting.
According to Moon, the Bangladesh Prime Minister said Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia share a rich and longstanding historical relationship rooted in religious, cultural, and economic bonds.
Bangladesh Bank (BB) has announced incentives
across all export items for aligning with its impending graduation from the
Least Developed Country (LDC) status in 2026.
Bangladesh Bank (BB) today issued a circular in this regard.
The circular will be effective from 1 January 2024 and will be valid till 30
June 2024.
For example, the special incentive for the readymade garments sector has been
scaled down from 1 percent to 0.5 percent.
Also, incentives for venturing into new markets have witnessed a 1-percentage
point reduction to 3 percent. This reduction extends to various sectors
including jute and jute goods, leather and leather products, frozen fish,
agro products, and more.
Before the circular came into effect, the highest incentive rate was for agro
products, potatoes, and processed meats at 20 percent, which has now been
reduced to 15 percent.
Criminal Investigation Department (CID), a specialized police unit, has found technological negligence for the incident of cyber heist of $101 million from Bangladesh Bank account in 2016 during their investigation into the case.
"Investigation of the case is at the final stage. During investigation, what we found was technological negligence as the BB was not technologically sound when the incident took place, that is the reality," said CID Chief Additional IGP Mohammad Ali Mia, while exchanging views with the newly elected Executive Committee (EC) of Bangladesh Crime Reporters Association (CRAB) at the CID headquarters in the city on Monday.
GAZIPUR: The first phase of Bishwa Ijtema will begin on the
bank of the Turag River at Tongi, on the outskirts of the city, on February 2.
Confirming the matter to BSS, Ijtema Chief Coordinator Md Mahfuzur Rahman
said the followers of Maulana Zubairul Hasan Kandhlawi will join the first phase of
Bishwa Ijtema to be held from February 2 to 4.
With the participation of the supporters of Maulana Saad Kandhalvi, the second
phase of the Ijtema will be held at the same venue from February 9 to February
11.
