Biman spreads wings to Narita

Biman Bangladesh Airlines resumed its direct Dhaka-Narita-Dhaka flight tonight while Bangladesh and Japan recently uplifted its bilateral ties to "strategic partnership" for boosting trade and security cooperation as well as increase people to people contacts.
The inaugural flight BG 0376 took off from Dhaka Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11.45pm (local time) and is scheduled to reach Narita International Airport in Japan on September 2 at 9.15 am (local time).
State minister for civil aviation and tourism M Mahbub Ali inaugurated the inaugural flight of the national flag carrier as the chief guest while Japan ambassador in Bangladesh Iwama Kiminori was present.

Govt not harassing Dr Yunus: Momen

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen today said Bangladesh government is not harassing Nobel Laureate Professor Dr Yunus on any political or other reasons.
“They (those who wrote letters) may think that he (Yunus) is being harassed due to political or other reasons. We hope they will know the facts. We will provide if they want to know,” he told reporters while at a briefing at a foreign ministry.
The foreign minister said the government did not file any case against Dr Yunus rather he is facing legal process with allegation of cheating with the labourers and tax evasion.

Govt to set up two Digital Economy hubs for ICT industry

The government will set up two Digital Economy hubs for the ICT industry to create conducive environment for digital economy by providing policy support, implementing upskilling and reskilling initiatives and coordinating Center of Excellence on digital technologies.
The digital economy hub which will be set up on the premises of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) and Bangladesh Association of Contact Center and Outsourcing (BACCO) would also develop a comprehensive institutional framework and system for the digital economy ecosystem that would benefit all businesses.
Two separate Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) were signed today in this regard between the World Bank financed Enhancing Digital Government Economy (EDGE) Project of BCC and BASIS, along with BACCO at the auditorium of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC).

Indian rover confirms sulphur on Moon south pole

NEW DELHI: Indian Moon rover has confirmed the presence of sulphur on the lunar south pole, the country space agency said.
Last week, India became the first country to land a craft near the largely unexplored south pole, and just the fourth nation to land on the Moon.
"The Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) instrument onboard Chandrayaan-3 Rover has made the first-ever in-situ measurements on the elemental composition of the lunar surface near the south pole," the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said in a statement dated Monday.
