16 get life term over post-polls killing

A Patuakhali court handed out life imprisonment to 16 people in a case filed in connection with the death of Md Sahidul Islam Mridha in the post-election violence of union parishad polls in 2011.
Patuakhali Additional District and Sessions Judge Court AKM Enamul Karim delivered the verdict this afternoon in presence of all the convicts, reports our Patuakhali correspondent.
All the convicts are residents of the same house while the court acquitted an accused, Sahidul Islam Mridha, 32.

Commuters suffer as city in traffic knots

Commuters woes worsened this morning as several parts of the city were in knots due to increasing traffic congestion.
Contacted, Assistant Commissioner of Traffic in the Shahbagh zone Mehedi Hasan Shakil attributed the gridlock to the metro rail suspension along the Agargaon-Motijheel route.
Several other traffic officials, posted at Agargaon and Ramna area, told TBS that traffic congestion surged after the metro rail disruption which happened this morning at around 9:40am due to technical issues.

Rooppur plant reaches major milestone with Dummy Fuel Loading

The Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP) has reached a significant milestone as the loading of dummy fuel assemblies (DFA) into the reactor pressure vessels of Unit-1 began yesterday.
This marks a crucial step towards commissioning Bangladesh first nuclear power plant, according to project officials.
Project Director Dr Zahedul Hasan confirmed that a total of 163 DFAs and 115 "Control and Protection System Absorber Rods" will be loaded into Unit-1 over the next two weeks.

Chief Justice issues 12-point directive for Supreme Court staff

Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed has issued twelve directives for Supreme Court staff, including not to take any undue advantage from justice seekers coming to the Supreme Court.
The chief justice gave these instructions to the officers and employees working in the Supreme Court during an event on Wednesday afternoon.
He also made it clear that any officer or employee found to be harassing citizens or engaging in financial transactions that violate these guidelines, including the established code of conduct, will face departmental action.
