
The Election Commission (EC) has recommended transferring 47 Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) of eight divisions aiming to hold the upcoming 12th general elections in free and fair manner.
The commission made the recommendation in a letter sent today to the senior secretary of the Public Administration Ministry.
Earlier, the EC instructed the ministry of home affairs and the ministry of public administration about the transfer of officers-in-charge (OCs) and UNOs.

Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) kick started the scoping mission to identify the areas of Technical Assistance and Implementation Support for the Program on Agricultural and Rural Transformation for Nutrition, Entrepreneurship, and Resilience in Bangladesh (PARTNER).
Nafis Khan, Senior Programme Officer, Global Programme Coordinator, South-South and Triangular Cooperation Division (PST), Kenya Konno, Programme Officer, PST, Nikola Trendov, Digital Agriculture and Innovation Specialist, OIN, Bruno Telemans, Crop Production Specialist, Plant Production and Protection Division (NSP), Xi Cao South-South and Triangular Cooperation consultant and Zhou Bo, Agriculture Officer from Headquarter and Regional Office will be participating in meetings and discussions in coming days.
In response to the request from Department of Agricultural (DAE) FAO experts will meet with the implementing agencies of PARTNER at Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) between 3-10 December to discuss various topics to support on smooth implementation of the project.
PARTNER is a five-years program to continue until June 2028 that aims to promote diversification, food safety, entrepreneurship, and climate resilience in the agri-food systems of Bangladesh. It is led by the Government of the People Republic of Bangladesh Department of Agricultural Extension and designed to be implemented by seven agencies and eight other strategic partners.

Dhaka is observing the ongoing situation in
Myanmar while efforts are underway to commence repatriation of the forcibly
displaced Rohingyas in a safe and dignified manner, said foreign ministry
here today.
"Bangladesh is observing the ongoing situation in Myanmar. Rohingya
repatriation is expected to begin soon when the situation improves in
Myanmar," said foreign ministry alternative spokesperson Mohammad Rafiqul
Alam at a weekly briefing at the ministry here this afternoon.
Currently, he said a tripartite initiative of Bangladesh-Myanmar-China is
underway for voluntary, safe and sustainable repatriation of Rohingyas.

Earlier, Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud and the Head of Bangladesh delegation in the COP28 high level segment, received the Award on behalf of the Prime Minister.
