20 lakh people affected by flood in 15 districts: Mohibbur

State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Mohibbur Rahman today said nearly 20 lakh of people in 15 districts have been affected by flood triggered by heavy rainfall and onrush of water this year.
"We have distributed adequate amount of relief material including rice, dry food and cash incentives among flood-hit people in 15 districts of the country," he told a meeting at his ministry," Jahid Hossain Khan, public relation officer of the ministry told BSS.
According to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, the flood-hit districts are Sylhet, Sunamganj, Netrakona, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Rangpur, Jamalpur, Gaibandha, Feni, Rangamati, Bogura, Kurigram, Sirajganj, Lalmonirhat and Coxs Bazar.

Narayanganj bungalow of Benazir seized

Former inspector general of police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed luxurious bungalow in Narayanganj Rupganj upazila is set to be confiscated on Saturday.
Following a court order to seize the property as part of the ongoing legal action against the former IGP, district administration and Narayanganj ACC officials have left the city for Rupganj to execute the order.
At 4pm, a team consisting of district administration and district Anti-Corruption Commission officials began raiding the bungalow located at Anand Housing in Rupganj.

Quota protest: Students lift blockade

Protesters against the quota system in government jobs have lifted their blockade at the Shahbagh intersection after nearly eight hours, allowing traffic to resume.
Earlier, around 11:45 am, students from Dhaka University (DU) halls and other areas gathered at Shahbagh, blocking the intersection to demand the removal of the quota system in government employment.
Throughout the protest, students chanted slogans and sang songs, creating a charged atmosphere. While tensions flared briefly between students and police, today protest concluded without any reported clash.

RU to establish cashless society for the first time

Rajshahi University (RU) will establish a cashless society for the first time among the country universities as part of implementing the government announcement of a cashless society.
A delegation of Bangladesh Bank (BB) led by its Director Motasim Billah revealed this while holding a meeting with RU Vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Golam Sabbir Sattar at his office conference hall here today.
It apprised the RU administration of the working strategy of the government planning along with its implementation to establish a cashless society.
