JICA signs 2 technical co-op projects with Bangladesh

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has signed two technical cooperation projects with the Government of Bangladesh for solid waste management and air pollution management.
This falls under the JICA thematic strategies for global development JICA Clean City Initiative (JCCI), one of JICA major global agendas.
It aims to enhance waste management and air pollution management in developing nations to realise clean cities in urban areas comprehensively and sustainably, said a media release on Tuesday.

ROSA Kitchen, Bath and Living Expo starts 18 July

The third edition of the ROSA Kitchen, Bath and Living Expo Bangladesh is set to kick off in the capital on 18 July, with the participation of eight countries, including Bangladesh.
The three-day expo will run from 10am to 7pm at International Convention City Bashundhara, said Nasimur Rahman, director of WEM Bangladesh Marketing Division, at a press conference at Dhaka Reporters Unity today.
Wem Bangladesh will organise the expo, while the country leading bathware and sanitaryware brand ROSA, a concern of AkijBashir Group, is supporting the expo as the chief patron and title sponsor.

Food minister for supplying safe food to hospitals

Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder has called for supplying safe foods to the patients admitted to hospitals, as it is very important for their early recovery.
"Rotted and adulterated foods are detrimental to the health of patients. So, utmost importance should be given on ensuring safe food to them," he added.
The minister came up with the observation while addressing the hospital management committee meeting of Niamatpur Upazila Health Complex in Naogaon district today (9 July) as the chief guest.

Oman opens labour market in 12 categories

State Minister for Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Shofiqur Rahman Chowdhury today said Oman government has opened labour market in 12 categories, including physician, engineer, nurse and teacher, for Bangladeshi nationals.
"Oman government will legalize 96,000 illegal Bangladeshi workers. The country also mulls over waiving fines of illegal expatriate Bangladeshis," he said.
The minister said this while talking to journalists after Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Bangladesh Abdul Ghaffar Bin Abdul Karim Al-Bulushi paid a courtesy call on him at his office.
